I made these on the weekend for my sister, a deliciously moist and chewy treat, with the added crunch of walnuts. Perfect with a good cup of tea brewed in a china teapot.
What you need:
- 225g dark chocolate
- 225g butter
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 200g caster sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 150g ground almonds
- 100g chopped walnuts
What you do:
- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees celsius. Melt the chocolate and butter gently over a low heat in a heavy-based saucepan.
- Take the pan off the heat, mix in the vanilla and sugar, and let it cool a little.
- Beat the eggs into the pan along with the ground almonds and chopped walnuts. Turn into a greased 24cm square baking pan.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, by which time the top will have set but the mixture will still be gooey.
If you’re wanting to be extra naughty place a dollop of cream on top of each individual slice.
